Plot Summary: Agatha Harkness, a witch, has no use of her spells. She is spellbound. Until one day a goth-looking teenager shows up and starts asking her about the “Witches Road” – a legendary road where it is said if a witch walks it and survives, they can regain what they are missing. But to walk the Witches Road you need to have a coven. So, along with the teenager, Agatha gathers a coven of people she is familiar with – most of them seem to not like her very much – and they venture out on the Road. There are many surprises, and backstabbings, on the Road. And in the end, you might be surprised who is actually responsible for creating the Witches Road after all!
Quality of the media: This is a high-quality production by Disney+ and Marvel. The theme is very dark most of the time, especially when they are on the Witches Road. But that only adds to the atmosphere. The graphics, especially when monsters were involved, were fun, and a bit scary, to look at!
Opinion: I wasn’t sure how much I’d like this show going in, as I’m not a huge fan on super hero movies, so when I saw that Marvel was attached I was thinking “oh boy here we go again.” To my surprise, the actor Kathryn Hahn is outstanding in this show, and I really enjoyed it! I didn’t mean I was surprised that Kathryn was a hit, she’s great! I was surprised I enjoyed the show. I loved the darkness of the Witches Road and all the various creatures that would pop up. It was a really fun show.
Library Program: For a program we could create our own version of the Witches Road, where we would set up a “road” in the library that had various challenges the kids needed to solve or work through to get past that point in the road. When they reach the end we could have a prize awarded to the winning team who did it the fastest!
